Shared note

The marriage of Carlo to 14 years old Maria Laetizia Ramolino (half-sister to Cardinal Joseph Fesch) in june 1764, a member of aristocratic Corsican family, was the result of the efforts of Carlo's uncles Luciano the priest and Napoleone. Carlo was 19 years old, had lost both parents and loved a girl named Forcioli. The dowry of 7.000 Genoese lire must have helped.
The dotal act of marriage was signed 31 may 1764. It is strongly believed that the marriage was consumed according to Corsican tradition the same night, that he avoided a religious marriage by leaving for Rome to study law and that Carlo used a blank space in the parish register to insert a fradulent act when he needed proof of a religious marriage at a later moment. See this photocopy of the marriagecertificate of Carlo Maria Bonaparte and Maria Letizia Ramolino which is in my posession. (please let me know if you can read this act)
The return from Carlo from Rome to Corsica in aug 1765. It's believed that he had to flee because he made a girlfriend a child. His explanation for his return to Corsica is the love for his country and the opening of the university in Corte.
The friendship between Carlo and Paoli, the corsican rebellion leader, between 1765 - 1769. Carlo must have acted as his private secretary and wrote possibly 1768 his speech urging the Corsicans to resist invasion.. He belonged with his uncle Luciano to the delegation that submitted on 18 april 1769 Corsica to the French authoroties.
After the French occupation in 1769 Carlo couldn't act as lawyer but 30 november he was, within three days, awarded doctorate by university of Pisa (Thesis: The conditions of validity of religious marriage!!!) and in the meantime he was authorized by the bishop of Pisa to use the title "noble Patrician of Tuscany"on account of the presumed kinship with the Buonaparte of Florence. He was registered as lawyer by Conseil superieur 11.12.1769.
The recognition of nobility (Order of nobility created in Corsica april 1770), together with the census of population of Corsica on13.9.1771
The friendship of Laetizia with Marbeuf, commander in chief of Corsica for France 1770 - 1786 (death) She lived in his house during winter 1777/1778 and there is a rumour that at least Louis is his offspring. (Marbeuf posessed castles in Brittany through his first wife, a rich widow).
Thanks to the "proof of his nobility" for at least the past 140 year and probably with strong help from Marbeuf, Carlo was able to convince the French authorities to admitt 10 years old Joseph to the school in Autun and 9 years old Napoleon to the military college in Brienne in 1779. On 24 november 1782 Elisa was granted scholarship at St Cyr.
In 1784, on one journey, Carlo took Joseph from Autun to Brienne, brought Elisa and a niece to St Cyr and Napoleon to the Military academy in Paris. On the way home he fell ill and died february 1785

Awarded doctorate by university of Pisa 27-30.11.1769. (Thesis: The conditions of validity of religious marriage!!!)
Authotized by the bishop of Pisa to use the title "noble Patrician of Tuscany"on account of the presumed kinship with the Buonaparte of Florence.
Registered as lawyer by Conseil superieur 11.12.1769.
13.9.1771 recognition of nobility (Order of nobility created in Corsica april 1770, together with census of population of Corsica)
1772 in Corsican estates, elected to Noble douze
